Frank M. Doyle was a leading Orange County developer in the 1960's and 1970's. Responsible for building homes , condominiums and shopping centers throughout the community.

In 2002, his wife Gertruded "Trudy" Doyle honored his memory by making a gift of $1 million form the Doyle Family Charitable Trust to the Orange Coast College Foundation to insure the completion of the Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion.

In total, over $2.5 million in private donations were received for the Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion. Additional funding for the building was provided throught Measure C funding approved by the voters of the Coast Community College Distrist in 2002.
